ABOUT THIS INTERNET THING
The Internet was NOT invented. It was discovered. That's my theory, anyway.
The Internet has always existed. At least, in concept. We just had to wait until our technology and our agenda caught up with it to learn what it was and how to use it.
Remember electricity? Ben Franklin with the kite? The boys at MIT had a kite, too. They strung their computers together with the ones on the other side of the Atlantic into a Network and developed a simple text-based language (HTML) to communicate with their counterparts in Sweden and other european countries. They called this network, the Internet!
OK! So they invented the name and the language.
Now, having said all that, you and I could argue about this "til the cows come home." If you Google it, you'll find a host of "How-The-Internet-Got-Here-in-the-First-Place" sagas born out of many different life experiences ... long, short and in-between. However, no one, to my knowledge, has asked the most important question. WHO CARES!!??
Rejoice! The Internet is here. And like Rock 'N Roll, it's not going away.
